Carlos, that's just over the minimum for TW1. It's not even a fraction of the CPU and GPU power TW2 is stated to require. I would expect TW2 to be no more than a slideshow on such a host, if it ran at all.

(Clock speed cannot be compared between Netburst (Pentium 4, Pentium D) and Core/Core2 architectures (Core 2 Duo, Pentium Dual-Core). The slowest Core 2 processors are much faster than the fastest Pentium 4 processors.)

I'm absolutely thankful for your fast, prompt and frank response.

Best regards.

Hello. I've downloaded the game from Steam (The Witcher: Enhanced Edition), but I keep getting the "does not meet minimum requirements" error. I don't know why this would be since this PC does, in fact, meet the system requirements. (Intel Core i7 860, Radeon 5970, 8GB of memory.) I am able to launch the game after adding the -dontForceMinReqs command but then I'm unable to change several of the game's graphical settings, such as resolution and texture quality. I've attached my PC Wizard report. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have you run a file integrity check through steam ?

Also the report you submitted is not a full report can you retry

I have installed 1.2 patch and did the "don't force min reqs" thing. Game launches now, and the audio is fine, but the screen is black. The only thing that shows up on the screen is extremely small main menu text ("new game", "options", "exit game"). I've already tried reducing screen resolution and restarting computer. I have spent a whole day just reading through all the posts on this forum and other forums and still haven't found a solution. Can someone please help me find a way to play this game until I'm able to save enough money to upgrade my computer. Thank you all so very much.

computer specs:

Windows XP Service Pack 3
Pentium 4 1.8 GHz
1 GB RAM
NVIDIA Quadro 4 750 XGL 128 MB (with latest driver and DirectX 9.0)

Well actually your processor needs to be at least a P4 @ 2.4 and an AGP while technically is a card to be honest really isn`t . I really don`t think there is any way possible to get it to run the witcher.

I checked further: that nVidia Quadro 750 XGL is the pro-line ("Quadro" cards are marketed for professional use) equivalent of a Geforce 4 Ti 4400. It's two generations too old to run The Witcher; that's why it fails the way it does.

If all you have is an AGP slot, you could try to pick up something like a used 6800 GT or 7800 GS in AGP format. But you're better off with a newer computer.

There seems to be an issue with Games and Optimus  on just about all newer laptops w/optimus technology . I check every week for a fix and as of yet there are none . If your laptop is still under warranty i would contact Dell and create a support ticket telling them that they need to do something . The Nvidia forums are full of complaints there are 4 of you here on the forum with the same issue . If i do find a fix i will definitely let you know .

I've unfortunately just experienced this issue. I've been running The Witched EE DC fine from Steam for a while now. Put over 20 hours into it, and other than the occasional crash, it was all good.

This morning I went to play and I got the "Minimum System Requirements Not Met" pop-up. I have no idea why. Nothing has changed with my hardware between the last time I played and this morning. The -force trick works, but the game is virtually unplayable when I load a game. The only "hardware" change would be that I hooked up a USB external hard drive to copy files the other day, but it's no longer connected and can't imagine that'd affect it.

I've uninstalled/re-installed the game, nothing. Uninstalled, reinstalled my video drivers, nothing. Turned off any virus protection or background programs (that again, ran fine a week ago), nothing.

I'm at a total loss here, and very sad. Any advice out there on how to get around this issue or discover what has changed materially in my system to make this a problem?

Thank you,
Eric

Firstly read: http://witcher.wikia...lp_on_the_forum and attach that PCWizard report as instructed do attach the file ERRLOG.TXT from The Witcher/System folder ( if the game crashed )

Also you may want to run a full system scan with either malwarebytes or SUPERantispyware

Two other things come to mind would be to do a file verification check through Steam and a disc check

Here's my system specs from PC Wizard with minor edits as it was over file size. I've validated all the files through Steam (no physical disc), and have run the anti-spyware scans. So far, no luck. Thanks for any help you can provide.
